Overview: The NEC Merit Scholarship is an initiative of the North Eastern Council (NEC) to provide financial support to students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India for pursuing higher professional courses. This scholarship aims to promote education in professional fields and uplift the educational standards of students from NER.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Domicile: The applicant must be a permanent resident of any of the North Eastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
  2. Course of Study: The student must be enrolled in a recognized professional course in any Indian institution.

  4. Family Income: The annual income of the family should not exceed INR 8,00,000.

  • For General Courses: INR 22,000 per year.
  • For Technical and Professional Courses (including medical, engineering, management, and law): Up to INR 25,000 per year.

  • Bank account details of the student.
