Overview: The NEC Merit Scholarship is an initiative of the North Eastern Council (NEC) to provide financial support to students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India for pursuing higher professional courses. This scholarship aims to promote education in professional fields and uplift the educational standards of students from NER.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Domicile: The applicant must be a permanent resident of any of the North Eastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
- Course of Study: The student must be enrolled in a recognized professional course in any Indian institution.
- Academic Performance: The applicant must have secured at least 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.
- Family Income: The annual income of the family should not exceed INR 8,00,000.
Scholarship Benefits: The scholarship covers tuition fees, maintenance, and other educational expenses. Specific benefits vary based on the course of study.
- For General Courses: INR 22,000 per year.
- For Technical and Professional Courses (including medical, engineering, management, and law): Up to INR 25,000 per year.

- Domicile certificate.
- Mark sheets of the last qualifying examination.

- Bank account details of the student.
- Aadhar card (if available).
