How to Apply
To apply for the scholarship, the applicants need to follow the following steps:
Step 1: Visit the Webiste for the scholarship application.
Step 2: Fill up the required information to find the respective scholarship.
Step 3: Click on 'Research Grants - Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees'.
Step 4: Carefully go through the information available and click on 'Submitting an application'.
Step 5: Click on 'To the application portal' to begin the application procedure.
Step 6: Register on DAAD portal and complete application as per the instructions available.
Step 7: Upload required documents.
Step 8: Finally submit the application form.
Note: After online submission, the applicants have to send hard copies of application form and relevant documents to the address given below-

Sandwich Model Scholarships 2017
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must
- Have a first class Master's degree
- Have PhD registration with an Indian University not older than 3 years at the time of application deadline.
- Have a letter of acceptance confirming academic supervision from a German Professor on the university's letterhead with a clear reference to the research project.
- Be residing in India at the time of application.

- Letter of confirmation from a German Professor stating she/he is willing to guide the PhD research
- A comprehensive research proposal of maximum 10 pages, agreed upon by both Indian and German supervisors
- A precise work along with time schedule of maximum 3 pages for the planned research
- Approval form for PhD supervisor in the home country
- Two references from senior academics
- List of academic publications (if any) in maximum 10 pages
- All certificates and mark sheets of school and university education
- Monthly stipend of 1000 Euros
- A lump sum amount towards air fare from India to Germany and back
- Exemption from payment of university tuition fees
- Subsidy in study and research
- Compulsory health insurance covered by DAAD
- 2 months German Language Course in India - free tuition
- 4 months German Language Course in Germany - free tuition, boarding, lodging plus pocket allowance during the period of the German language course in Germany (preceding studies/research)
- Spouse allowance and additional rent subsidy
- Supervisor’s travel
