The Simmons University Boston Scholarship is a competitive merit award that recognizes students from Boston public high schools and charter schools who have attained academic excellence.

As an institution deeply committed to the city of Boston, Simmons University strives to provide opportunities for local high school students to achieve success at the college level and beyond.
The Boston Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship. Once at Simmons, recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and live on campus during their freshmen and sophomore years.

Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
Currently attend a Boston public high school or Boston charter school
Have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (re-calculated)
Have at least a 1080 on the new SAT or 1000 on the old SAT, a 21 ACT score, or 237/92 TOEFL scores
Have demonstrated creativity, engagement, global perspective, leadership, resiliency, or other qualities indicative of the ability to contribute to Simmons's diverse community
The Application Process
The application consists of two parts: a nomination letter and an on-campus interview. Students apply for the scholarship by emailing their nomination letter with the subject line "Boston Scholarship Application." Applications must be received by Simmons no later than February 1st, but either the student or the nominator may email the nomination letter. On each page of the nomination letter, students should include their full name and date of birth.
If applicable, students should also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1. The federal school code for Simmons is 002208.
Part I: Nomination Letter
A student's nomination letter should come from a guidance counselor, college counselor, community advocate, headmaster, or teacher. Students may also choose to nominate themselves. The letter should include the reason why the nominator feels the student should receive this scholarship and the impact such an award would have. Nominators must include their full name, title, e-mail address, phone number, and mailing address within the letter.
Part II: On-Campus Interview
Qualified scholarship applicants will be invited via email to schedule an on campus Boston Scholarship interview. Interview days are typically held during February winter break. Scholarship applicants will receive a confirmation of their interview date and time via e-mail.
