Fish Scholarship Fund Merit Award Scholarship

Fish Scholarship Fund Merit Award Scholarship At Simmons University

Fish Scholarship Fund

The Fish Scholarship Fund is a merit award funded by Atsuko T. and Lawrence K. Fish, founders of The Fish Family Foundation.

Recognizing academics and community impact

The Fishes and their philanthropy are committed to providing access to college to those who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend. Atsuko T. Fish, trustee of Simmons and founder of the Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative, established this scholarship with her husband in 2012 to be awarded yearly to one student who has excelled academically, actively participated in the community, and demonstrated financial need.

The scholarship is an annual award of $15,000, renewable all four years, and includes an additional one-time award of $2,500 to be utilized for an experience that promotes global citizenship beyond the classroom and exposes Fish Scholars to the world. Once at Simmons, Fish scholars must maintain a GPA of 3.0 to remain eligible for this award. Fish Scholars will be provided with the opportunity to meet directly with members of the Fish Family Foundation and the donors, Atsuko T. and Lawrence K. Fish, to share their experiences and celebrate student achievements.
