What I do If Windows Device Manager includes one or more items as Unknown device In Dell Laptop

Some hardware devices may be listed as an "Unknown Device" in Windows Device Manager if the device driver is not available or installed on the PC.

• Windows Update

Run Windows Update on your Dell PC. Windows Update will scan your PC and auto-detect the device driver, install all the recommended device drivers.

• Dell Drivers & Downloads

For hardware devices that was pre-installed on your Dell PC, download the device drivers from the Dell Drivers & Downloads website.

• Device manufacturer's website

If the "Unknown Device" appeared after you plugged in a 3rd party device to your Dell PC, use the CD/DVD disc or USB key that came with the device to install the driver. Or, you may also visit the device manufacturer's website to download and install the latest device driver.
