Selection Process

The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027 will be conducted in three stages:

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination

The Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination will be objective in nature and consists of two papers covering General Studies and the relevant stream-specific subject.

The Preliminary Examination carries a total of 400 marks. The marks obtained in this stage are counted for determining the final merit.

Stage 2 – Main Examination

Candidates qualifying in the Preliminary Examination will appear for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination.

The Main Examination consists of three descriptive/conventional papers for the relevant stream and carries a total of 600 marks.

Stage 3 – Personality Test

Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination will be called for the Personality Test/Interview, which carries 200 marks.
