Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM) 2025-26 – Eligibility, Rewards & Application Process

The Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM), also known as the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship, is a flagship scheme by the Government of West Bengal. This scholarship aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections so they can continue their education without financial burden.

For the 2025-2026 academic year, fresh and renewal applications are currently open.

Eligibility Criteria for SVMCM 2025-26

To apply for the scholarship, students must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.

  • Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh (except Kanyashree K3 and certain research levels).

  • Must be studying in a recognized institution within West Bengal.

  • Only students enrolled in Regular/Full-time courses are eligible.

Minimum Academic Marks Required

  • Class 11 & 12 (HS Level): Minimum 60% in Madhyamik (Class 10).

  • Undergraduate (UG): Minimum 60% in Higher Secondary (Class 12).

  • Postgraduate (PG): Minimum 53% in Graduation (45% for Kanyashree K3 applicants).

  • Professional Courses (Engineering/Medical): Minimum 55% in Graduation

Scholarship Amount 2025-26

The scholarship rewards vary depending on the level and stream of study. The amount ranges from ₹12,000 to ₹96,000 per year.

Application Process

Students must apply online through the official SVMCM portal:

Follow these steps to apply:

Step 1: Visit the official portal and select the appropriate Directorate (DSE, DPI, DTE, etc.). Register yourself to generate a 15-character Applicant ID.

Step 2: Log in using your Applicant ID and password. Fill out the detailed application form carefully.

Step 3: Upload all required documents in PDF format (file size not exceeding 400KB). Required documents include:

  • Mark sheets of the last qualifying examination (both sides)

  • Admission receipt

  • Income Certificate (issued by BDO/SDO or equivalent authority)

  • Domicile proof (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Ration Card)

  • Bank passbook copy (first page with IFSC code)

Step 4: Review all details carefully and submit the application form.

After submission, students can track their application status (such as Approved or Fund Disbursed) from their dashboard.


Important Note for Gap Year Students

If there is a gap year between passing the last examination and taking admission (for example, passed in 2024 but admitted in 2025), students must upload a Declaration by the Head of the Institution explaining the reason for the gap.
